Castlefield Gallery established by artists in 1984, nestled in the heart of Manchester’s Knott Mill area. It is Manchester’s first public contemporary visual art gallery dedicated to the advancement of contemporary visual art and artists. They are focused on developing visual artists’ practices and careers whilst creating opportunities for the public to engage with the art of their time.

In 2018-2019 alone their work reached over 100,000 attracting national and international visitors to the city region, and directly engaging with more than 2000 participants. They work with artists at all stages of their careers, including new graduates. Its focus is on the power of the work as opposed to the status of the artist.

Over the past three decades, they have grown to become a proven leader and enabler in the development of visual artists and their work, as well as an integral part of the North of England’s cultural fabric.
