Physical Culture
Physical Culture is located in a pleasant residential area in the centre of Putney, just a few moments away from Putney High Street. Originally opened in 1928 by Miss Margaret Grey, the gym has remained Putney’s local gym ever since. Now, in spite of all the large health clubs and major chain gyms that have flooded the Putney area, the gym stays true to its family roots and provides that humble, cultivated, and friendly atmosphere of a local, members-only, club.
They provide simple, high-quality equipment and a friendly atmosphere to support a range of evidence-based exercise that has stood the test to time exercises that form the foundation of all physical activity for quality daily life and sport.

“I’ve bee a member here for more than 8 years. The range of equipment is amazing and well maintained. I mainly focus on a more traditional bodybuilding style of training using mostly free weights, machines, and cables. There’s a huge range of options available for every workout. But, there’s a massive amount of equipment I don’t use, including what is clearly the best powerlifting setup for miles around. There are a lot of gyms in the area, but there’s no point in even considering them. Physical Culture is by far the best gym I’ve ever used!” – Chris P.
The Commando Temple
The Commando Temple is dedicated, motivated & enthusiastic strength disciples. They coach and inspire world-class strength with purposeful movement. Its clients, members, and visiting athletes expect a world-class space to train in. Their pride and future legacy are dependent on them improving the lives of those around them. They offer a mutually beneficial respect-driven relationship, where small successes breed more success. It is a training space like no other on the planet.
They are an independent gym with no agenda other than to turn every client who comes to them into nimble, agile, strong, pain-free. They want to take the brakes off your mind and body to allow you to experience life better than you ever imagined possible.

City Athletic Bank
City Athletic Bank was founded in 2012 by Ben Claypole and Shaun Stafford, City Athletic has quickly established itself as London’s premier performance training centre. With a simple goal of standing out in a crowded and competitive marketplace, they went about forming a team of world-class trainers to provide members with the experience and opportunity of training as an advanced athlete in the heart of Central London.
Having grown tired of working in over-crowded and poorly maintained gyms, the ethics behind City Athletic was to create a gym that incorporates the latest state-of-the-art equipment, with space, exclusivity, and expertise to focus on each and every member’s needs and goals.
