London Travel Guide – Fahim Imam-Sadeque Shares What You Should Know Before You Go

London is one of the greatest cities in the world and one of the most popular for international travellers. If you do your research before you go, Fahim Imam-Sadeque says your trip can be even more enjoyable.

When you know what to expect in advance of travelling to London, your visit can be even better than you expected. So before you make any of your reservations, educate yourself on where to stay and what to do so you can plan the best trip for you.

Here are some things that you need to know before you visit London for the first time.

Stay Central

There are so many different places to stay in London and so many different price points that it can be confusing where to start. Many people will opt to remain on the city’s outskirts to save some money.

While hotels in Central London tend to be more expensive, it’s well worth the cost. By staying in the city centre, you’ll save a lot of money (and time) since you won’t have to travel long distances to and from your hotel.

The trade-off in spending more money on your hotel is that it saves that money in transportation costs and allows you more time to see all the sights. You might even be able to shorten the length of your trip because of your efficient accommodations.

Focus Your Time

London is a huge city, and there is just no way you’ll see it all on your first trip — unless you’re setting aside a month or two to do it. If you’re like most people, you may only have a few days to spend in the city.

The best way to truly enjoy your trip is to focus the time you have on what’s most important to you. Set aside ample time to see the most famous landmarks and popular attractions so that you can experience them and not fly by.

Don’t attempt to see all London has to offer in one trip. That’s an easy way to become tired and fed up.

Reserve in Advance

Because London is such a popular place, many of the main attractions in the city book up quickly; not everything will sell out all the available time slots in a day, but some might.

That’s why it’s always a good idea to reserve whatever you can in advance so that you’re not disappointed. Of course, your hotels and flights should be where you start but quickly advance to booking tickets for any attractions, museums or even the London Eye.

When you book in advance, you’ll have a better selection of available time slots to choose from, you may be able to get cheaper tickets, and you won’t have to wait in line.

Don’t Spend Money on Everything

Fahim Imam-Sadeque understands that London can get very expensive quickly, but it doesn’t have to be. There are many free things you can do in and around London that will help keep the overall cost of your trip within budget.

The city has a huge variety of parks, playgrounds and gardens that anyone can visit for free. You can browse the various shops and markets in the city, perusing the many goods London has to offer.

There are many free museums, too, such as the Science Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, and National Gallery, to name a few. And don’t forget that the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace is not only one of the most famous things to do in London, it’s also completely free.
