Skoob BooksSkoob Books

Skoob Books has been in the Bloomsbury area since 1978 and in their permanent shop next to the back of Waitrose since 2007. Skoob Books aims to keep this tradition going. For more than forty years they have been buying and sorting top-quality secondhand books in academic fields and offering them in their Bloomsbury shop, as well as in outposts of the empire, and, latterly, online. Founded by ex-employees of the closing-down Poole’s, of Charing Cross Road, the first Skoob was a stall in Long Acre, followed by a shop in Bury Place near the British Museum, now the home of the excellent LRB bookshop.

Dozens of students, academics, and office workers made the Sicilian Avenue manifestations of Skoob (two adjacent stores) their regular first port-of-call for out of print books, but rising rents and a decline in footfall led to the move to Unit 10 in the Brunswick in 2000-2005.
